Hi, lovely to welcome you here…
…my name is Anna and I am excited that you have found your way to my website.
I love connecting with horse riders, hearing your story and helping you advance on your riding journey!
Having ridden and owned horses since I was a little girl, I know the challenges and heart-ache, as well as the incredible joy and highs, we get to experience with our horses. Through the combination of my professional background, holistic approach and experience as a competitive rider, I believe, I can offer a unique perspective and skill-set to help you achieve your riding dreams.
I was born in Munster, Germany, and started riding (with many many lunge lessons, as it is common) when I turned 10. When I turned 12, I got my first off-the-track thoroughbred “Dejavu”. Riding and competing at junior state levels throughout School and Uni, it was out of question for me not to bring my horse with me, when I moved to Australia in 2006.
Here, I worked for Brett Parbery (Performance Riders) before then changing tracks to build my career in my studied profession. Following that decision, I spent the next 12 years advancing in corporate HR roles, training customers, employees and executives and developing strategic coaching and training programs whilst working as Chief HR Executive in a multinational company. I continued to ride and compete during those years, and took my horse Reverence F (“Revi”) through the ranks from a young horse to FEI level.
As many who work in a corporate job (or have a young family) would know, the hours one can spend in the saddle are limited… So I became obsessed to work on my mental game to improve my riding performance at home and in the competition arena. Having studied Psychology and being trained as a Lifecoach and NLP practitioner in 2009, I researched what riders that excelled in their competitive riding did differently and applied everything I learnt in my own life and riding, as well as working with a select group of professional riders next to my day job.
In 2016, I lost Revi after a devastating spell of laminitis and for the first time in my life I took time off away from horses.
After 6 months, I was approached by two people about the same horse … SPH Sir Oktagonal, a very talented 4 year-old who had bucked a few people off and had been deemed a “problem horse”. I was getting ready to reconnect with horses and went to look at him... That is how Ollie entered my life. He is the most talented horse I have ever ridden, and every day is a privilege to work with my big moving boy. Today, he is 10 and competing at FEI Small Tour, on our journey working towards GP.
In 2017, I became a mum and life changed again... Priorities in my life shifted and I completed my 500 hr Yoga Teacher Training and transitioned into a new career of yoga teaching and professional riding in 2018. In March 2020, I completed my EA Dressage Coach Level 1 accreditation and am now spending my time between my family, Dressage riding & coaching and yoga teaching.
In 2022, our family welcomed another little human into our family and we fulfilled our dream and moved onto our property “Kumandra” (hindi for “the land of harmony and peace”) on the beautiful Central Coast. I am currently studying Equine Assisted Counselling with Equine Assisted Therapy Australia, due to complete my degree in 2024.
A word of THANKS
As anyone involved in the equestrian sport knows, you can’t do it without a strong support network and team around you.
A thank you goes out to my yoga teachers (Lisa Grauaug, Ute Kohler) and Dressage coaches past and present (Brett Parbery, Emma Weinert, Christoph Hess) for your generous input and inspiration, Ollie’s team of vets (at Randwick Equine clinic), farrier, osteopath, saddle fitter, massage therapist… keeping him healthy and fit and my mentor and good friend Denise Rogan for your never ending stream of wisdom and support. Lastly, I want to thank my husband Greg and my family and close friends for your unconditional love & support and for being there to hold me when I need it.
